This is a Drop-In Module for the MagliteŽ 4-5-6 D size Flashlight. The Light Must Have a "D" as the First Character of the Serial Number for a Proper Fit. It uses a genuine Cree XP-G LED. This dropin produces a real 260 (measured out the front) lumens with alkaline batteries. The Drop-In module is constructed of CNC machined structural aircraft aluminum and has a regulated driver. The current output to the led is 1000ma on 4, 5 or 6 D cells. It can be operated with rechargeable cells as long as the maximum input of 9 volts is not exceeded. Full heatsinking of the driver and LED insure that the module can, and will, run at maximum output for extended periods. It will easily illuminate objects at a distance of 1000+ feet and will light a 2 inch red reflector at a distance of more than 1/4 mile. If you shine someone with this at night, within a 100 ft radius, they should see spots for a good 8-10 seconds.
The module retains the focusing ability of the flashlight. It operates on 4, 5, or 6 easily available D size alkaline batteries depending on the flashlight body. The runtime is 8+ hours on 4 D Cells at the rated output. It will continue to operate at reduced output for several more hours. The light is great for distance and spotting.
In order to use this module the rear end (cam or tube portion) of the stock reflector must be cut off within about 1/8th inch of the base of the cone. Just make sure not to cut into the cone itself when making the cut.
